3-D Patrol
(A product of: Safe Highway Corp.)
3-D Patrol is a police decoy vehicle designed as an inexpensive
alternative to having an actual patrol car on the side of the road as a deterrent to speeding. The vehicle
is equipped with radar and a speed threshold control that allows it to turn on flashing lights in the
presence of an oncoming speeding vehicle.
3-D Patrol advantages
3-D Patrol offers considerable advantages to the law enforcement
agencies burdened by an ever-increasing number of vehicles on the road while limited by a shortage of
manpower and funding.
Having a police decoy vehicle on the side of the road for the purpose
of influencing good driving habits is an old idea, commonly used by many law enforcement agencies.
Experience has shown that placing a law enforcement vehicle
alongside the road has been highly effective in reducing the speed of motorists and, consequently,
the number of automotive accidents. This technique, though effective, is also a very expensive way
to solve the problem of speeding vehicles, since a parked police vehicle is not available for other urgent duties.
Currently, many law enforcement agencies are using a device that
uses radar and a window displaying the speed motorists are doing. Such a device has shown some limited
effect in slowing motorists. This product is expensive and does not act very well as a deterrent since
it only tells motorists their speed. 3-D Patrol shows a picture of a police vehicle with flashing lights,
which is more effective in slowing drivers and making them adhere to the speed limits.
The object of 3-D Patrol is to provide an inexpensive and easily
transportable vehicle, simple to operate that, when displayed on the side of the road, will create the
illusion of an actual police vehicle. This product does serve as a deterrent to speeding, and influences
better driving behavior from motorists.
Construction sites
3-D Patrol can be placed on construction sites
where worker proximity to the road creates a dangerous environment. Placed on these job sites,
a patrolman can then be positioned down the road and observe the bright LED light located atop
the back of the device which will light up whenever a speeding vehicle is approaching. This amber
color LED light will serve as an early warning to the patrolman who can aim his laser unit at the approaching
vehicle to verify the infraction. Should the patrolman decide to pursue the vehicle, he will do so comfortably
knowing that he has left the job site still attended by the 3-D Patrol deterrence device.
By strategically placing 3-D Patrol units, Public Safety organizations can
create the illusion of a widespread police presence at considerable savings to their departments.
NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS
Homeowners Associations trying to find ways of preventing
crimes, or reckless speeding in their neighborhoods, can also use 3-D Patrol as an effective tool for deterrent.
School zones
Placing a police vehicle in high traffic areas such as
school zones is a common practice of many police departments. While we encourage this practice to
continue, another alternative is to place 3-D Patrol units in these locations. By doing so, police officers
that are urgently needed somewhere else, can attend to other important duties leaving the area attended
with the continuous “presence” of a police deterrent.
Monitoring problem areas
3-D Patrol is equipped with an electronic counter, which
records the number of vehicles that have gone above the set speed limit. This capability to record
the number of speed infractions gives the police departments the opportunity to monitor problem areas
needing special attention.
Description of the product
3-D Patrol is mounted upon a lightweight trailer, which
at it’s rear, has a picture of the front and side of a police vehicle attached to an aluminum panel.
The panel has a horizontal hinge that divides the picture in half allowing it to be folded forward for
easy transportation. The picture of the police vehicle has two bright red and blue LED lights
located on the upper part of the panel where the vehicle visor is located. Directly behind those lights,
and facing toward the front of the trailer, is an amber LED light. There are two clear strobe lights located
in each headlight of the vehicle picture.
When programmed, all the lights of 3-D Patrol will turn
on automatically upon detection of an approaching speeding vehicle. In addition, all lights can
be turned on independent of the radar, and set at different flashing patterns.
The trailer has an aluminum box divided into three compartments.
One compartment holds the electronic components such as the speed control setting, radar and battery charger.
In addition, the unit has an electronic counter, which records the number of cars going above the set speed limit.
The unit also comes with an alarm and remote control. The center compartment is for a spare tire. The third compartment
holds the wheel chocks and lock, as well as the protective cover for use when being transported, or when placed in storage.
The unit is equipped with two golf cart type rechargeable batteries
enclosed in a rigid plastic box and secured by lock. There is a built-in battery meter located outside of
the electronic compartment to show existing battery charge. The battery should be fully charged before deployment.
A recessed female plug, located on the side of the electronic compartment, is provided for charging the battery.
To prolong battery life, the unit is equipped with a solar panel.
Displaying and using the 3-D Patrol
3-D Patrol should be placed on the roadside, away
from any obstructions to the sun or radar antenna, and at a secure distance from oncoming vehicles.
Secure trailer wheel with bar and lock.
Before turning on the radar unit, set the desired speed you want
the radar to activate the lights. You can assure that the radar is on, and the unit is working, by observing
the amber LED light. This light is located high on the rear of the picture panel. It will light up when the
device is activated, and when approaching vehicles exceed the set limit.
Lock the box and set the alarm with the remote control. It’s that simple!
Complete set-up takes less than five minutes.
This product is under warranty from factory defect and 60 days after delivery.
Our manufacturing will accommodate any color of vehicle or lights desired to meet your state requirements.
